Character limits that matter in 2026
- X posts: 280 characters (25,000 for Premium). Links count as 23 characters.
- LinkedIn posts: 3,000 characters, but only the first 210 show before “see more”.
- Instagram captions: 2,200 characters; the first 125 show in feed.
- TikTok captions: 2,200 characters.
- YouTube titles: 100 characters, descriptions 5,000.
- Google title tags: around 60 characters (580 px) before truncation; meta descriptions around 160 (920 px). Use the SERP snippet preview for pixel-accurate checks.
Frequently asked questions
Do emojis count as one character?
On most platforms an emoji counts as two characters. This tool counts them as one visible character and shows the emoji total separately so you can adjust.
